Monday: open to members - 10 am - 1 pm
Tuesday: closed to all
Wednesday to Sunday: open to all - 9 am - 4 pm
* Please note: Events, holidays, and school breaks may impact these hours. Additionally, CMTM offers professional, family-friendly theatre productions and afterschool experiences, which are ticketed separately from museum visits.

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine Afterschool Experiences are designed with the whole child in mind. From exploring the interconnection between Maine's aquatic species to creating a show as a theatre ensemble, these experiences foster collaboration, empathy, critical thinking, and self-awareness skills.

Meet Lisa Wentzell, author of A Dog and His Boy, The Adventures of Spillway and Scotty. Lisa Wentzell will read her children's book about a boy named Scotty and his life-sized stuffed dog named Spillway. This heartwarming story is told from Spillway's point of view and explores themes of acceptance, empathy, inclusion, and friendship.

Madeleine Corson, a former media executive and board member for the Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine, died Monday after battling cancer. Corson was the former Chair of the Board of Guy Gannett Communications and a long-term member of the Museum & Theatre Board of Directors.
She was the executive who gave hugs to all her employees. The fierce advocate for family-owned businesses even after she sold her own. The generous benefactor who delighted in introducing children to the arts, especially theater.
It’s almost time for the Solar Eclipse! “News Center Maine’s United in Totality” team stopped by the museum this week to learn about the exciting programs being offered by the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine to spark curiosity and creativity in young minds as the state of Maine prepares for Monday’s eclipse.
The Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine announces an opportunity for budding playwrights aged 17 and under to submit their original plays to the upcoming Youth Play Festival on June 1 and 2, 2024.
